3...2....1... blastoffff!

Nice, Gum!!

I like the perspective and the overall concept, great use of the icon. The shading is okay, but could be smoother, and the background leaves something to be desired. I'm also a bit confused on the light source with the sun being behind rocket-cat. I think the comedic value of it really helps the style. The bird is GREAT, really looks like it is in motion. Overall, well done!

And is that Pico firing that cannon!?

Havegum responds:

I rushed this way more than I should. Horribly much.
So much that when I realized the shading was all wrong on the cat rocket, I didn't even care enough to fix it up.

That being said though, I had loads of fun creating this little bastard!
Also the guy firing the cannon was supposed to be a dog or whatever, but I suppose pico works too!

Happy friday flood!

I like this!

Especially the name. Sounds like the day was pretty sweet, glad you made something to immortalize it!

ImaginaryAlbot responds:

Well thank you, Awesomesaurus! I appreciate it.

Holy improvement, Batman!

From seeing the original on this before you started working on it again, I have to say you did a phenomenal job!

I know one of your main concerns was if the story was getting through or not, and in this final version, it is incredibly clear as to what is going on now.

I really like the creativity behind the theme, not just your ordinary bots. The color scheme you chose is interesting, gives that sunset-time of day feeling.

I would have to say what I enjoy most about it is the sense of depth, with the background crab-bot being a bit out of focus and lighter in value, while the closer crab and the girl really stand out in the foreground as the main focus of the piece.

Great job as always TOAS!

Finally

It's about damn time you posted some stuff in the portal, Razac!

This is really something else, incredibly professional and life-like. You've always been able to create realistic looking images, but this blows your other stuff out of the water. I read in your thread that this was a commission, I can imagine you will be getting much more work by having this in your portfolio!

But if I have to say anything criticizing it: something about the differences in the "shiny-ness" of the vest throw me off. I get that the light is coming from the front with her left side vest, but the right side doesnt have the same sort of brightness in the middle of the "puff." It could just be how I'm viewing it, but thats my only squabble, really nothing at all.

Post more stuff and glad to see you in the portal!

Unbelievable!

But believable because all your stuff is so well done! I think you really outdid yourself this time, Jag, you really captured the essence and feeling of Renaissance painting.

My favorite part is the cloth, it just has so much definition and is easily identifiable in texture, you can almost feel it. The different reds and tiny thread seams make it very realistic. You've always been one of my favorite artists on NG, but damn you never stop getting better do ya?

Keep doing what you are doing, its obviously working, and well done!

Alllllllrighttyyy Then!

Beautiful rendition, Nekow.

I've always been envious of your ability to use darks and contrast to really make your art "pop." Also, being one of the best characters of all time helps out quite a deal! I really like how you can see the papers lines through the red spot in the background, but not through Ace himself, its gives some good dimension to it. The shirt design is done very well, and it was definitely a good choice to put a warm color in the background that offsets the bright blues.

Give us more you talented painter, you.

Nekow responds:

Saurus you are awesome, thanks!

Excellent

Wow this is really nicely done. I especially like the light blue added to the skin-tone, really accentuates the color of the face. I think the way you handled the hair was pretty neat too, its not too crazy detailed, and gets the job done, while still allowing the immediate focus to be on the eyes at first glance.

And that bothers me too about not having descriptions in the commentary, it's always good to have a little information on the piece. Great work Biff!

Critter Crashers!

So great! I love the saliva and the expression on Joe's face. You've really got aknack for this my friend, I am damn proud to be a part of this! As I've said before, I really dig your shading technique with this style, very smooth and clean, and the extra white outlines are a very nice touch as well. And the use of the negative space for SNO's branch was a clutch idea, definitely planned and thought out, the characters weren't just slopped in there via copy and paste with no structure, you found one that works well with the size and shapes of each one!

You stumped me with the background this time, looks like some sort of chocolate candies :p

sigh : : and when I tried to draw you for the guess that art forum reg, you ended up looking like Dale Gribble. I'm so sorry!

Keep at this, It's going to be a monument of the art forum upon its completion!

Daverom responds:

I'm not a fan of slopping things together.
The background is eggs this time.
And drawing me like Dale Gribble is by no means insulting. Quiote the opposite.

Even better!

These look great colored Vero, really liking the shading and color choices!

Only thing is, whats with the blueberries in the background!? Its a nice home-style portrait touch, but is there any specific reason why? Just curious, it doesn't by any means detract from the image and I thought it was pretty funny :p

Poor fishboy looks like he could use a hug!

Daverom responds:

No reason at all, had a blueberry muffin infront of me, so I used a blueberry texture.
and fishboy does in fact, need a hug

I really like this

I really, really do! Great style, I think you used an excellent sense of line weight, and your coloring is almost cell shaded, but blended well, if you can see what I mean. The lighting is warm and well done, and the colors you used are spot on! I would definitely like to see more stuff like this, maybe some complete characters instead of just busts. Props to you M-Vero, you make me wanna draw more!

Daverom responds:

Yes, draw! Draw like you've never drawn before!
Also yeah, this was mostly practice, I'll probably upgrade to full bodies later.

-I'm merely remarking on the paradox of asking a masked man who he is.
